Judge Sonia Sotomayor, The Republican Party and Alienating the Latino Vote

As the confirmation hearings for Judge Sonia Sotomayor approach, members of the Republican Party have launched an all-front attack on the Judge's credentials, ethnicity and even her intelligence. If the GOP keeps up this charade, it only hurts its standing in the Latino community. It is disingenuous to even think that Latinos are not paying attention to what is occurring at this time.

In addition, given the Party's rhetoric of 2005, which at times bordered on hatred, mounting an attack such as this on Sotomayor only deepens the resentment of the Latino community towards the GOP.

The GOP leaders, if any, must remember that in 2004, President Bush managed to secure 41% of the Latino vote. In 2008, John McCain only managed to lock in 31% of the same vote. That is a 10% drop.

Having said that, any attack on the Judge's character is a slippery slope and a dangerous one, which could keep the Republican Party in the minority at all electoral levels for years to come.

Attack at your own risk and peril!

The Republican Party Changes Plan of Attack on Judge Sonia Sotomayor

The Republican Party seems to be out of whack and not in sync when it comes to President Barack Obama's nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, to the United States Supreme Court.

GOP Rep Jason Chaffetz Slams 'Reprehensible' RNC Video Comparing Pelosi To Pussy Galore

It is simply amazing. The whole political discourse and debate has been reduced to juvenile and childish videos.

Does the GOP truly want to be taken seriously by the American electorate?

Rick Perry Aide: Don't Open Up GOP Like A "Whorehouse"

This is one of the most absurd, offensive and ridiculous comments I have heard. How does the GOP expect to attract new voters when you have members of the Party making remarks such as this?

Steele Open To Torture Investigations: "Let's Put It All On The Table"

This is the line that caught my eye:

The RNC Chairman also refused to say whether he thought the interrogation techniques used by the Bush administration constituted torture. "I have a personal opinion that's not appropriate to share here," he said.

Boehner, McConnell Cheer Cheney's Public Activism

I am not a fan of Former President George Bush but have to give him credit for not taking a role in criticizing President Obama. At least, it shows that he has more class than Dick Cheney.

Kaka, AC Milan and Real Madrid

The Spanish media has announced (if you believe any media, that is) that Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite (Kaka) and Real Madrid have reached a deal that would have the midfielder move to Spain.

Ok, folks. I honestly believe that Kaka is a great player with tremendous skills. No question about it. No one in his or her right mind can deny that fact. But in all honesty, is he the best there is as certain people claim? Don’t believe me? Well click here or here or here.

I do not agree with the assessment of him being the best. He has not, not that he has to, impressed me. Does it matter what I think? Probably not. It is just my opinion.

Am I biased against him? I do not think so. This is just what I think as someone who is a huge fan of soccer/football and enjoy watching the game.

Saying that he is the best is a disrespect to other players who have shown to be superior: Steven Gerrard of Liverpol, Xavi of Barcelona, Cristiano Ronaldo of Man United, Frank Lampard of Chelsea and Lionel Messi of Barcelona.

What makes you the best? Number of goals scored? If so, then Cristiano Ronaldo wins that hands down. Creativity? Well, then you have Lionel Messi. I am trying to wrap my head around this whole “the best player” thing.

Oh, by the way, AC Milan has denied that any deal for Kaka’s services has been reached. Like we did not see such announcement coming.

Pintame by Elvis Crespo

I have decided to post and share this song with you all because of its significance and special meaning in my life.

When my daughter, Marie-Carmen, was about two months old, I would hold her in my arms and sing this song to her. That is how I felt about her then and how I still feel about her now.

Please let me know what you think about Pintame. Like it? Love it? Hate it?

I did not know that Perez Hilton was on the short list of nominees for the Supreme Court. Why is this even relevant to the whole discourse of who should be on the bench?

Pete Sessions: Obama Hurting Economy To Consolidate Power

"The Chairman was simply reiterating what many members of the Democratic Party have echoed over the past several weeks, which is that one-party dominance in Washington has further damaged our economy and undercut our country's free enterprise system."

That's one hilarious and hypocritical line coming from the Republican Party. It appears that they conveniently and disingenuously forget how and who got us into this mess.

Senator,

In case you missed it, Al Franken is Jewish.

Along the same lines, I may be cynical but will say it: Specter switching to the Democratic Party to retain his senate seat and then switching back to the Republican Party when and if winning re-election.
