I am just a regular single dad and regular guy.
I have been divorced for about 5 years and am a proud dad of one beautiful young lady who just turned 9 years old on December 31.
If Republicans were smarter, that is a big IF, they would stay from talking about anything that has to do with the economy and climate change.
Heck, given their record, they should stay away from anything that has to do with the American people and their survival. Read the Article at HuffingtonPost
The President extended his hand in bipartisanship and the GOP brushed him off, gave him the cold shoulder and rejected him. And now they are complaining. That is what I call guts and hypocrisy.
President Obama has done more to reach out to the GOP than Former George Bush ever did when the Democrats were the minority.
The Republican whining and posture reminds me of that song "You Don't Bring Me Flowers."
The United States Men's National Team made history yesterday (June 25, 2009) when it defeated Spain, the No. 1 ranked team in the world. Everyone celebrated and cheered even those who do not follow or are fans of soccer/football. Great and proud moment for this country. Our boys pulled off an upset. However, it appears that not everyone is truly happy about it. I am talking about neo-cons.
Click on the above link to read an article penned by Gary Schmitt, formerly of the Project for a New American Century. To say the least, it is an interesting and yet idiotic article. When you read it, you do not know if one should laugh out loud for the silliness or cry for the sheer stupidity.
Yep, you've heard it folks. Jut when you thought Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) could not get any nuttier, crazier and weirder, once again, she has proved us wrong.
It is true that much discussion has been centered around the role of the US Census in World War II and how such of that data was utilized to intern Japanese-Americans in concentration camps.
You can click here and here and here for more information on such discussion.
However, let us make it clear that by using such rationale to refuse to comply with the US Census, Congresswoman Bachmann has disrespected the Japanese-American Community, has taken it to a different level and brought back to the forefront a dark era this country wants to forget.
Are you, constituents of her district, proud of this elected official?
She never stops embarrassing herself, the United States Congress and those she represents.
Just when you think you have seen it or heard it all, there is always more. Belgian news reports that Anthony Van Loo, a 20-year-old Belgian soccer player, had a heart attack while playing a match for his team, K.S.V. Roeselare.
After a header to clear the ball, Anthony went down and began suffering seizures. The posted video (above) shows him walking towards an out-of-bounds ball and collapsing.
As he lays on his back, teammates and trainers rush to his side. That is when Van Loo’s body suddenly jolts, legs jerking/ kicking.
About a year ago, Anthony was diagnosed with a heart condition but was allowed by his doctor after a defibrillator was implanted in his chest. Yep, you heard right– a defibrillator. That same defibrillator saved his life on that pitch.
This is the magic of medical technology at work. Amazing!
If Senator Landrieu finds that a government health care option may not be the right choice for whatever reason (we still don't what that her reason is), then she and other politicians, both Democrats and Republicans, including their families, should forgo their taxpayer-funded coverage until they can come up with a reasonable and decent option for this country. Is this for real? These are the same people who either looked the other way or fell asleep at the wheel while their fearless leader pillaged and drove the economy over the cliff?
These people cannot even be trusted with running a lemonade stand.
It has been confirmed that Kaka has signed a contract with Real Madrid. I still do not understand what the big fuzz about this kid is. He is a good player but not that spectacular. In my humble opinion, I do not believe that he is not worth that much money.
As the confirmation hearings for Judge Sonia Sotomayor approach, members of the Republican Party have launched an all-front attack on the Judge's credentials, ethnicity and even her intelligence. If the GOP keeps up this charade, it only hurts its standing in the Latino community. It is disingenuous to even think that Latinos are not paying attention to what is occurring at this time.
In addition, given the Party's rhetoric of 2005, which at times bordered on hatred, mounting an attack such as this on Sotomayor only deepens the resentment of the Latino community towards the GOP.
The GOP leaders, if any, must remember that in 2004, President Bush managed to secure 41% of the Latino vote. In 2008, John McCain only managed to lock in 31% of the same vote. That is a 10% drop.
Having said that, any attack on the Judge's character is a slippery slope and a dangerous one, which could keep the Republican Party in the minority at all electoral levels for years to come.
The Republican Party seems to be out of whack and not in sync when it comes to President Barack Obama's nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, to the United States Supreme Court.
This is one of the most absurd, offensive and ridiculous comments I have heard. How does the GOP expect to attract new voters when you have members of the Party making remarks such as this?
The RNC Chairman also refused to say whether he thought the interrogation techniques used by the Bush administration constituted torture. "I have a personal opinion that's not appropriate to share here," he said.
I am not a fan of Former President George Bush but have to give him credit for not taking a role in criticizing President Obama. At least, it shows that he has more class than Dick Cheney.
The Spanish media has announced (if you believe any media, that is) that Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite (Kaka) and Real Madrid have reached a deal that would have the midfielder move to Spain.
Ok, folks. I honestly believe that Kaka is a great player with tremendous skills. No question about it. No one in his or her right mind can deny that fact. But in all honesty, is he the best there is as certain people claim? Don’t believe me? Well click here or here or here.
I do not agree with the assessment of him being the best. He has not, not that he has to, impressed me. Does it matter what I think? Probably not. It is just my opinion.
Am I biased against him? I do not think so. This is just what I think as someone who is a huge fan of soccer/football and enjoy watching the game.
Saying that he is the best is a disrespect to other players who have shown to be superior: Steven Gerrard of Liverpol, Xavi of Barcelona, Cristiano Ronaldo of Man United, Frank Lampard of Chelsea and Lionel Messi of Barcelona.
What makes you the best? Number of goals scored? If so, then Cristiano Ronaldo wins that hands down. Creativity? Well, then you have Lionel Messi. I am trying to wrap my head around this whole “the best player” thing.
Just when you thought things could not get any worse for the LA Dodgers’ owner, Frank McCourt, the LA Times has revealed that there is evidence pointing to further performance- enhancing drug use by Manny Ramirez.
I have decided to post and share this song with you all because of its significance and special meaning in my life.
When my daughter, Marie-Carmen, was about two months old, I would hold her in my arms and sing this song to her. That is how I felt about her then and how I still feel about her now.
Please let me know what you think about Pintame. Like it? Love it? Hate it?

"The Chairman was simply reiterating what many members of the Democratic Party have echoed over the past several weeks, which is that one-party dominance in Washington has further damaged our economy and undercut our country's free enterprise system."
That's one hilarious and hypocritical line coming from the Republican Party. It appears that they conveniently and disingenuously forget how and who got us into this mess. Read the Article at HuffingtonPost

Along the same lines, I may be cynical but will say it: Specter switching to the Democratic Party to retain his senate seat and then switching back to the Republican Party when and if winning re-election.
I have always thought that Congressman Murtha has been a strong advocate for the less fortunate. However, given his alleged ethical lapses, it has become clear that it may be time for him to go.
Well, friends, it has happened. The Los Angeles Dodgers have broken and set a new record as they "became the first National League team since 1900 to win their first 11 home games, overcoming an Arizona triple play to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-2 Monday night with a homer and three RBIs from Manny Ramirez."
This list contains the names of US Senators and how they voted on the Bankruptcy Bill pertaining to homeowners and foreclosures. Please note that the Bill to protect consumers was defeated.
It is no secret that these senators, both Democrats and Republicans, have the interests of the mortgage and banking industries at heart and not that of the consumers.
It is clear that Rush Limbaugh and his ilk, including Malkin, Beck, Hannity and those in between, are just transforming the GOP into a political party that will only appeal to one segment of the population: white southerners. That is assuming that Malkin would be accepted. But I digress.
Chemistry and relationships-- a topic that haunts us those seeking to find, build, develop and maintain a meaningful and deep relationship with the one. But do we know the true meaning of chemistry?
I recently came across an article written by Toni Coleman, LCSW, in which she points out that we, human beings, tend to confuse romantic love with great sex. Yeah, that sex that makes our body sweaty, tingle with excitement, our toes curl and explode in a great orgasm (actually, my interpretation... but you get the point) We confuse the two because we are missing spiritual affinity.
Toni tells us that spiritual affinity is " the hidden element of chemistry. It's when two beings meet and connect on a deeper level. It can only be felt in the heart and soul. It's about friendship, respect, humor and the feelings of warmth and contentment that come when you are in his/her presence.'"
Let us not fool ourselves into believing that spiritual affinity, as Toni says, is immediate. It happens over time as more contacts between the interested parties happen. It eventually leads to develop relationships based on trust, commitment, comfort and friendship.

As you read this article, please set aside all your pre-conceived notions or ideas. This is not about your agreement or disagreement on what constitutes torture. To me personally, it gives us an insight into someone's soul and constant struggle with her duty.
We humans being are just strange. When we find ourselves alone, we complain about it, wishing to find and meet someone special. But when we do, there is a feeling of being smothered, of being suffocated and no room to breathe. This leads us to get that desire of being alone again. Why is that? Why are we never, ever happy with what's given and handed to us?
How can you say that homosexuality is a threat to national security? Well, that is what the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) claims in the latest video. The above piece written by Frank Rich takes NOM to task in saying that "what gives the ad its symbolic significance is not just that it’s idiotic but that its release was the only loud protest anywhere in America to the news that same-sex marriage had been legalized in Iowa and Vermont. If it advances any message, it’s mainly that homophobic activism is ever more depopulated and isolated as well as brain-dead."
Folks, I do not know what to say. The more the Republican leaders open their mouths, the more ridiculous and absurd they look and sound. They have become the Party of NO, the Obstructionist Party and clearly only speak for corporate interests. They do not have the interests of the middle and lower classes at heart. They never have and never will.
Congressman Boehner and his ilk should get out of the way if they are not willing to help fix the mess that their leader created.
Kids, this is what happens when you spend way too much time in a tanning booth.
Does this surprise anyone? It does not surprise me. It is so weird, pathetic and angering that even though the price of barrel of oil has dropped considerably, the price of retail gas has not. Folks, there is something intrinsically wrong here. And yet, our government has not addressed this issue. What is even more disturbing is the fact that we consumers have stayed quiet. Why?
As the 2010 World Cup approaches, it is worth asking whether or not South Africa is up to the task of hosting the Cup given the current crime situation. When this issue was first brought up, South African and FIFA officials caused an uproar in dismissing people's concerns. Nevertheless, these concerns remain well and alive and cannot be out rightly ignored.
You must read this story. Clint Dempsey, an American-born soccer player, brace downs Manchester City. It goes to show us all that our guys have come a long way in terms of playing the beautiful game.
The Men's National Team played today against El Salvador and tied the game after falling behind 2-0. Today's game showed that certain deficiencies (i.e., Beasley looking out of place) continue to haunt the team under Bradley's leadership. If the team continues down this path, they will face serious problems at the World Cup if qualification is secured, even worse than the ones faced under Arena's leadership.
I believe that it is time for the US Federation to start asking serious questions about Bradley's strategy.
I don't know about you folks but every time I hear the GOP leaders talk about the economy, I just get angry, furious. They created this mess. They have no place or right to lecture and even come up with an alternative plan. Read the Article at HuffingtonPost

Fix the problem? I am sorry but that's a ridiculous statement given the fact that the people who got these so-called "retention bonuses" were the ones who created the mess in the first place. Why should we care what the GOP has to say? They are the ones along with their ridiculous leader who got this country into the mess in which we are. About Timothy Geithner Read the Article at HuffingtonPost
Be aware of what you and your partner want for yourselves and what you want from the relationship
Let one another know what your needs are.
Realize that your partner will not be able to meet all of your needs. Some of these needs will have to be met outside the relationship.
Be willing to negotiate and compromise on the things you want from one another.
Do not demand that a partner change to meet all your expectations. Work to accept the differences that you see between your ideal and the reality.
Try to see things from the other's point of view. This doesn't mean that you must agree with one another, but rather that you can expect yourself and your partner to understand and respect your differences, your points of view and your separate needs.
Where critical differences exist in your expectations, needs, opinions or views, try to negotiate.
It is just amazing that Manchester United has lost two (2) games in a row. Fulham blew wide open the race by defeating Man U. Unfortunately, Chelsea was unable to close the gap after falling to Tottenham. It is now up to Liverpool to catch up to Man U tomorrow when they face Aston Villa.
Stoke City beat Middlesbrough, thus distancing itself from the relegation. But Middlesbrough remains in the zone.
West Brom continues its fight to get out of the relegation zone as it tied today's game with Bolton, although Wes needed to collect all three (3) points. But one (1) point is better than nothing at all.
The one positive aspect of all is the fact that all teams have two (2) weeks to regroup as next weekend is reserved for international qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup.
