It has been a while since I last posted on my blog. So what's going on around the English Premiere League? Well, quit a bit. Some good and some not so good.
1. West Brom-- what a disappointing season! This team does not seem to be able to pull itself out of the relegation zone. With only a few games remaining, it is becoming almost a reality that this team will return to the Championship.
Wasn't West Brom supposed to be the best of the newly promoted? At least, that's what I read sometime ago. Greater things were expected of the team.
2. Liverpool. So much talent, so many mistakes. Title out of reach? Hopes for the EPL Championship vanished? Very likely. But then again, in football, anything is possible.
3. Chelsea seems to have turned its luck around with the hiring Guus Hiddink on a temporary basis. The coach has clearly stated that his intentions are not to stay in charge of Chelsea. He plans to return to coach the Russian National Team. We'll see.
4. Fulham! About a year ago, this team was about to be relegated but pulled itself out of the hole and managed to stay in the EPL. Roy Hodgson, whether you like the man or not, has done wonders with the guys. This year Fulham has managed to stay in the top ten-- eight place to be exact, just one point above of West Ham United.
Today, the Fulham boys were able to hold Arsenal to a goalless draw, thus complicating Arsenal's dreams of reaching and catching up to Manchester United. Fulham put on an impressive defensive show. Nothing like the team that almost got relegated.
The game between Fulham and Arsenal brings me to another point-- that is, maybe, it is time for Arsene Wenger to re-think and re-examine his approach to players. All young and possibly inexperienced might not bring home the silverware the fans so deserve and expect.
Maybe, it is time to pursue and invest some cash in players who can actually pose a threat to other teams, such as Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and, heck why not, Fulham.
